Presentation
The NetRNA consortium, coordinated by Dr. Pascale Romby, gathers 12 CNRS teams working on different aspects of genes expression regulation by RNA in various organisms (Institut de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire and Institut de Biologie Moléculaire des Plantes). These teams are respectively leaded by: Magali Frugier, Sébastien Pfeffer, Pascale Romby and Michael Ryckelynck (UPR 9002), Jean-Luc Imler, Nicolas Matt and Carine Meignin (UPR 9022), Todd Blevins, Dominique Gagliardi, Damien Garcia and Pascal Genschik (UPR 2357).
The general objective of the NetRNA network is to advance knowledge on functions of the regulatory RNAs, mainly small ncRNAs, their targets and mechanisms. Our main objective is to integrate these regulatory RNAs into the general network of gene expression in a variety of pathogens (bacteria, viruses, parasites) and of organisms such as plants, insects, and mammals. A special focus will be directed towards regulatory RNAs that play a role in development, stress-related responses, immune responses, host-pathogen interactions, and in human diseases.
Main objectives
- Regulatory RNAs targeting mRNAs and their regulatory networks in various organisms (plants, mammals, insects) and pathogens (bacteria, viruses, parasites)
- Dynamics of regulatory networks in response to environmental changes, stress conditions, host-pathogen interactions
Task 1: Molecular machineries of regulatory RNAs (HTS, MS)
- Understanding of regulatory RNAs, their targets, and the multi-protein effector complexes involved in their functionality and regulation
- Elucidate the regulatory mechanisms at the molecular level and rules that dictate specific recognition between RNAs and their targets
Task 2: Regulatory RNAs, biotic and abiotic stresses (HTS, imaging)
- Profiling regulatory RNAs under stress conditions
- Impact of biotic and abiotic stresses on molecular machineries
- Localization of regulatory RNAs and their molecular machineries
Task 3: Regulatory RNAs: towards system biology (HTS, microfluidics, bioinformatics)
- Establishment of networks
- Dynamics of the networks: single cell studies
